opportunity for a Director of Student Services to
make an impactful contribution during a time of so many exciting
possibilities. We are seeking a Director of Student Services who
has demonstrated success in leading a high performing team and who
thrives in change and is passionate about representing and
advocating for the student body. The Director of Student Services
will also have the opportunity to assist the Dean in implementing
new experiential learning programs for undergraduate research and
entrepreneurship.
Partnering with the Associate Dean for Education, the
Director will:
- Oversee the strategies, planning, processes, and communications required to implement services and programs for students.
- Work with the Dean, Associate Deans, Chairs and Directors of Undergraduate Studies to support existing, and identify new priority goals and programs, including the above-mentioned experiential learning initiatives for undergraduate research, entrepreneurship, student team projects, etc.
- Oversee the administrative functions of Bowers CIS undergraduate services and programs, administrative support, fundraising, marketing, and alumni and corporate relations.
- Manage the staff team supporting Bowers CIS undergraduate programs, focusing on advising, course coordination and recruitment of 500+ undergraduate course staff per semester with partnerships crossing multiple colleges including Engineering, Arts and Sciences and Agriculture and Life Sciences.
- Facilitate collaborations of student services with related functional areas in the college including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
- Serve as the college liaison to other colleges/schools and the university on issues related to Student Services and student success.
- Master’s degree with 5-7 years experience in higher education leading student service functions or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Ability to motivate employees and build functional teams to complete goals.
- Demonstrated knowledge in student development and engagement, higher education, and trends
- Highly developed skills in leadership, management, and strategy.
- Proven success in academic programming and student service development and delivery.
- Exemplary interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate, network, and develop relationships.
- Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and the ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce.
- Ability to analyze issues, develop solutions, and implement actions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and public relations skills.
- Demonstrated experience using statistics and metrics for informing success in student services.
- Effective financial management, budget preparation, and fiscal operations management in higher education or the public sector is preferred.
- Gift management and stewardship experience is desirable.
- Experience with marketing, information technology management and facilities management in higher education is desirable.
