The RISE Program Manager will work closely with Middlesex College students, staff, the Juvenile Justice Commission, the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center, and affiliated juvenile justice and reentry organizations in order to oversee program management of the existing RISE program as well as in the development and expansion of new juvenile justice higher educational initiatives.

Within this capacity, the RISE Program Manager will support the enrollment and registration of incarcerated and reentry students, support students in continuing college coursework as they transition to various facilities and/or discharge, facilitate peer-mentor trainings and the implementation of peer-mentorship meetings between justice-impacted students and their Middlesex College student peer mentors, and support program data collection and analysis.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Collaborates with the Academic Director to oversee the operation of the RISE peer-mentorship program between Middlesex College students and justice-impacted students.
2. Collaborates with the Academic Director and other relevant College personnel to design and execute a comprehensive recruitment and retention model for justice-impacted Middlesex College students.
3. Plans and implements in-service trainings and meetings as needed for peer mentors and for other relevant constituents.
4. Builds and maintains positive and proactive relationships with student participants, peer mentors, and government and community organizations that work with justice-impacted individuals throughout the state.
5. Participates in relevant committees and administrative meetings that connect with the RISE programmatic goals.
6. Facilitates peer mentorship meetings between mentors and mentees as needed.
7. Tracks the progress of mentors, mentees, and justice-impacted students at Middlesex College and assist students towards achieving success.
8. Supports data collection, analysis, and assessment efforts.
9. Maintains and updates all program-related files and documentation related to weekly attendance, progress reporting, placement, and program completion.
10. Facilitates the enrollment and registration of justice-impacted students in their college courses.
11. Interacts with and acts as a liaison to other areas within the College, the detention center, and other relevant organizations in order to facilitate justice-impacted individuals’ secured access to College programming and supplemental supports as they transition to various programs and/or are discharged.
12. Works with the Grants Department to secure external funding to support the development and expansion of programming for justice-impacted students.
13. Prepares and tracks all programs-based activities and outcomes.
14. Supervises federal work study students.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's degree in Sociology, Cultural Anthropology, Education, Criminal Justice, or a related field
• Two years of relevant work experience
• Three years of experience implementing grant-funded programs
• Three years of experience developing and overseeing the implementation of grant budgets
• Access to reliable transportation, as occasional travel to relevant facilities and agencies across the state is required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong organizational and time management skills, with exceptional attention to detail
• Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including Word and Excel
• Broad understanding of regulations and processes related to government grants and funding agencies
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Knowledge of FERPA and ethical principles in working with students

SUPPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:

Grant-funded position

SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with some evenings and weekends required

RETIREMENT: Pension Eligible

Any Middlesex College employee hired after September 1, 2011 will have to meet the New Jersey residency law requirement.
