Position Summary:

The Medical Program Assistant provides administrative support to the Division of Rheumatology within the UW Department of Medicine (DOM) through daily interaction with faculty and staff members. This position will also assist the Division Chief, other faculty, and the Division Administrator in the successful performance of their clinical, teaching, research and administrative responsibilities, while maintaining a thorough knowledge of relevant policies and procedures of the division, department, school and University. The position also coordinates and participates in meetings and facilitates effective communication with persons external to the Division such as University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics (UWHC), University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation (UWMF) and Veterans Administration Hospital (VAH).

This position requires excellent interpersonal, computer and organizational skills. It also requires the ability to work confidentially and independently while dealing with diverse communities of faculty/academic and health care/physician environments. The position reports to the Rheumatology Division Administrator, and work is performed under general supervision. The incumbent will also receive work direction from the Division Chief.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required:
- At least 1 year of experience managing electronic calendars and coordinating meetings
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- At least 1 year of experience with forms and records management in a diverse office environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs

Preferred:
- Experience working in a complex multidisciplinary environment, in a healthcare setting preferred
- Experience including use of word processing, database, accounting programming, and report generation
