Position Summary:

This position will involve the programming and analysis of large datasets (some administrative) including national Veterans Affairs databases, SEER/Medicare datasets, and multi-institutional large databases. This position will work closely with department bio-statisticians and clinicians on cutting edge and novel health services research with a focus in urologic oncology. In addition, this position will help or lead grant preparations with a goal for independent funding. This position will also help or lead manuscript writing and submission to peer-reviewed journals. The position will also have the opportunity to participate in department and system-wide education, collaboration, and career-development opportunities.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelors required. Preferably in health services research related field.
Master's or PhD, in health services research related field, preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

A minimum of 2 years' experience with SAS programming software, and in the construction of analytic files from large claims databases and merging of databases from multiple sources, and knowledge in a healthcare research setting using economic and clinical information systems. Experience in Microsoft word, Excel, and Access applications, working knowledge of SQL and associated applications required. Knowledge of VA, Medicare and/or Medicaid databases would be preferable but is not essential.

Prefix assignment determined by years of relevant work experience.
A minimum of 7 years of experience is required for an appointment at the senior level.
