Position Summary:

The Mowat lab (https://mowat.ophth.wisc.edu) aims to understand the mechanisms of retinal aging at the clinical and molecular level the association of age with blinding diseases affecting the elderly. We are seeking a highly motivated Research Specialist who will contribute to a collaborative group studying age-related retinal diseases. Our laboratory is multidisciplinary, studying laboratory animal models and spontaneous diseases in companion animals (primarily dogs). The Mowat laboratory has research space in the UW-Madison Medical Sciences building and in the School of Veterinary Medicine.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's of Science required. Master's degree in neuroscience, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry or related field preferred. DVMs with an interest in ophthalmology are welcome to apply.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Preferred experience in dog handling, dog behavior/training, dog anesthesia monitoring, client communication.
Laboratory research skills are preferred. Familiarity with RedCap and Excel is preferred.

Additional Information:

This position may be extended or changed to renewable if there is a program need and funding available.
