This is a 12-month postdoctoral associate position that will be 100% research at the Gulf Coast Research and Education Center (GCREC), Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, the University of Florida. This assignment may change in accordance with the needs of the unit. The postdoctoral associate will work on the vegetable crop Best Management Practice (BMP) program with a multidisciplinary research team at GCREC and other UF facilities. The postdoctoral associate will 1) design and implement experimental design for the research projects associated with calibration of soil phosphorus and nitrogen testing and fertilizer recommendations, 2) implement treatments and assist with maintenance of experiments in the field and greenhouse, 3) interpret results, input data, and conduct statistical analyses. The position will require working with an artificial intelligence team for input of data into databases. The postdoctoral associate will be required to publish in peer reviewed journals. This position includes supervision of a Biological Scientist and hourly wage employees in field experiments, data collection, and sample preparation.

The University of Florida/IFAS Gulf Coast Research and Education Center (UF/IFAS GCREC) is a 475-acre facility located in the heart of Hillsborough County, between Sarasota and Tampa, FL, and approximately 90 minutes from the Orlando area. UF/IFAS GCREC features working research fields and state-of-the-art laboratory facilities. With more than 20 faculty members and 200 employees, UF/IFAS GCREC offers responsive research solutions to growers for numerous commodities grown in Florida. Our center also offers housing for graduate students and student interns.

Required:

A doctorate (foreign equivalent acceptable) in horticulture, agronomy, soil science, agricultural engineering or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates should have demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication and interpersonal relationships. Candidates must be supportive of the mission of the Land Grant system. Candidates must also have a commitment to IFAS core values of excellence, diversity, global involvement, and accountability.

Preferred:

Postdoctoral experience is desirable.
