Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

The Research Analyst is responsible for supporting Strategic Enrollment Management through reporting on admissions, enrollment, and financial aid data, conducting enrollment research, developing and conducting evaluations of programs, predictive modeling, and other tasks, as assigned. This position reports to the Director of Enrollment Research and Evaluation within the Division of Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success.

Primary Responsibilities Include:
Collect, extract, and analyze enrollment data and trends (75%)
•Serve as a member of the Enrollment Research team that is responsible for operational reporting, evaluation, and analytics for the division.
•Collect, extract, and analyze data from both internal and external data sources, in support of university and division strategic plans.
•Query, join, manipulate, and analyze large datasets
•Develop and revise operational reports using SAS
•Respond to ad hoc data requests
•Build and enhance Tableau dashboards. Assist in implementing division-wide assessment procedures
•Use predictive modeling to support strategic initiatives
•Work closely with the Office of Institutional Research and Decision Support to support institutional enrollment planning

Evaluations (15%)
•Plan and conduct evaluations of division programs

Other duties as assigned (10%)

Minimum Hiring Standards

•Master’s degree or an equivalent level of education and training
•Completed Graduate coursework or professional experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods and multivariate statistics
•Extensive knowledge of statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, Mplus, STATA )
•Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
•Ability to interpret data and provide information in an understandable way
•Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU .

Preferred Hiring Standards

•Doctorate degree or a current doctoral student
•Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research and manipulating large datasets using SQL or SAS
•Experience utilizing SAS programming and Tableau
•Experience working in a higher education environment
•Experience assessing higher education program effectiveness and outcomes
