Elmhurst College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of American history in the Department of History.  Primary field of preparation and study is open, but the successful candidate must be prepared to teach a broad range of courses.  Main teaching responsibilities will include introductory surveys as well as upper division electives.  Co-operation with a strong secondary education certification program is vital, and the ability to offer courses in minor or outside fields will be helpful.  Evidence of outstanding teaching or teaching potential and scholarly interest is essential.  The teaching load is twelve hours, separated into three four-hour courses / preparations each semester.  Candidates should have a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment for a diverse student body.  PhD in hand is required by September 1, 2018.
