Program Manager - Degree Completion

Summary:
Utah Valley University, now the largest university in Utah by headcount, is an open-access, dual mission, public institution located in the heart of the Provo/Orem metropolitan area. With one of the most diverse student bodies in Utah, UVU is home to a wide variety of students in both background and preparation.

In an effort to better serve our students, UVU has allocated funds for two completion grant initiatives, the Returning Wolverine Grant and the Wolverine Completion Grant. The Degree Completion Program Manager manages these grants in the following ways: develops, facilitates, and assesses the overall vision of the completion grants, markets the grants to prospective applicants, evaluates and selects grant recipients, provides specialized support to grant recipients towards degree completion within 6-years of their original start semester, advocates for student needs, and collaborates with other groups on campus to promote student success.

Due to the nature of these grants, recipients have diverse needs and circumstances and a successful candidate will be able to identify, learn, and support students from all backgrounds. As such, this position provides the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of hundreds of students, families, and communities.

The Program Manager over Degree Completion reports directly to the Assistant Director over Student Retention within the First-Year Experience and Student Retention department. The FYESR department is looking for an empathetic, hardworking, detail-oriented individual to join our amazing team!

Summary of duties include:
  • Organize, facilitate, manage, and review two major completion grants (Returning Wolverine Grant & Wolverine Completion Grant)
  • Develop and facilitate a communication plan to promote the completion grants to potential candidates
  • Develop and facilitate a communication plan to collect feedback from grant recipients
  • Provide mentorship to grant recipients on their journey towards degree completion within 6 years
  • Collaborate across campus departments, committees, and organizations to support student degree completion
  • Collect, manage, and report on program data
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience related to the Summary of Duties or any combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling five years.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in retention and completion programming, and strategies for student persistence.
  • Knowledge in current mentoring and coaching strategies for higher ed. students.
  • Knowledge of a variety of computer applications including Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, G Suite and Adobe Design Suite.
  • Skill in organizational, verbal, and written communication.
  • Skill in budget management.
  • Skill in interpersonal, problem-solving, decision-making, and public relations sufficient to work with and relate to a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to work in an office environment with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to supervise and train employees.
  • Ability to work with attention to detail, maturity, professional demeanor, tact, diplomacy, and a sense of humor.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data.
  • Ability to learn new technologies should the need arise
  • Ability to prioritize work and make adaptations as the need arises


Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and 1-3 years experience.


Physical Requirements:
General office requirements such as: talking, listening, hearing, seeing, standing, sitting and fine hand manipulation.

Pay Range: $33,068 - $44,091 annually
