The Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics (ACE) is seeking to fill a position for a Director, University of Illinois Tax School. Under the direction of the Head of Department, this position is responsible for the overall administration and all aspects of successful implementation of programs associated with Tax School, and its continued growth and prominence as a nationally recognized provider of professional tax education including training, materials and support.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

Education:

Required: Master’s degree in continuing education, higher education administration, education policy/organizational leadership, adult education, human resource development or related field.

Preferred:

Experience:

Required: Experience (at least 5 years) in at least one of the following: developing, organizing, directing, or delivering complex professional development/training programs. Experience (at least 5 years) implementing marketing and promotional strategies for a complex professional development/training program such as email marketing, social media marketing, print marketing, stakeholder engagement through blogs, communities of practice, etc.

Preferred: Experience (at least 3 years) supervising and managing professional and support staff. Experience (at least 3 years) creating and managing budgets, and managing financial aspects of large continuing education units. Familiarity with university financial systems such as Banner.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent organizational, communication, conflict management, and interpersonal skills. Excellent personnel and information management skills including both micro and macro management. Knowledge of e-learning platforms and instructional design of e-learning. Ability to formulate actionable goals and see them through to completion.

Demonstrated commitment to meeting and exceeding customer expectations. Cursory knowledge and interest in federal and state income tax information. Understanding  and support of University outreach mission.

Environmental Demands:

This is a full time Academic Professional Position appointed on a twelve month service basis.  The expected start date is as soon as possible after July 16, 2021.  Salary is commensurate with experience.
