The University of Vermont is seeking applications for the position of Associate Director of Learning Communities.

 

Posting Summary      

Lead residentially-based Learning Communities (LCs) in support of the Department of Residential Life’s, vision, and strategic objectives. Manage academic integration efforts across campus within an over-arching strategic vision of providing an exceptional student experience that is welcoming and inclusive of all residents. In addition to overseeing academic collaboration efforts with LCs, lead the Learning Communities Team. As a member of the department’s leadership team, support departmental initiatives including but not limited to Restorative Practices, Intercultural Competence and Social Justice, and delivering a meaningful residential student experience. Work closely with the Executive Director of Residential Life to ensure that LCs align with established learning outcomes and deliver a meaningful student experience. As a member of the Department of Residential Life, instill respect and foster a sense of community that creates, promotes, and supports a socially just residential environment. Students, faculty, and staff are provided opportunities to understand, accept, and appreciate each other through various means including conversations, programming, advocacy, education, support, reflection, and relationship-building. Under the leadership of the Associate Director, the Residential Education Team strives to promote an on-campus residential experience in which students are healthy, engaged, and successful.

 

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Master’s degree in education, student affairs, public administration or related fields and three to five years of progressive professional experience with residential learning communities required. Demonstrated leadership, communication and organizational abilities with students, staff, faculty, central administration and community groups required. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice and fostering a collaborative multicultural environment required. Effective skills in creating vision, financial planning, management and assessment required.

 

Special Conditions     

A probationary period may be required, occasional overtime/weekend hours required, External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, a probationary period may be required for current UVM employees.
