General Description

College of the Sequoias Community College District is seeking qualified adjunct faculty to teach courses in the Fire Technology program.

This posting is to establish a pool of qualified applicants to teach for the 2021-2022 Academic Year.

Currently recruiting applicants to teach courses in Fire Protection Equip/System. (This is one of six core classes for students pursuing a degree/certificate in Fire Technology. Topics include the design, installation, and operation of fire detection systems, alarm systems and extinguishing systems.) Future potential exists for Fire Investigation, and Fundamentals of Fire Apparatus and Equipment.

Adjunct faculty assignments may include weekend and/or evening classes at the Hanford Educational Center.

Adjunct faculty applications which meet the required minimum qualifications are kept on file for one year from the date the application is received.

Adjunct faculty positions are temporary positions and do not accrue rights to tenure.

Job Duties

Under the general direction of a dean or director, adjunct faculty will provide comprehensive classroom instruction to community college students.

Qualifications

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • Any Bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience related to course content.

  • OR
  • Any Associate degree and six years of professional experience related to course content.

  • AND
  • Experience that indicates a sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical and learning disabilities.

  • OR

    The Equivalent

    Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching Fire Technology courses at the college level.
  • Demonstrated proof of advanced education and professional experience related to the course subject. (Advanced education is beyond Firefighter 2 level, California State Fire Training or equivalent NFPA-based instruction in a formal, certified, setting.)
