The University of Vermont is seeking applications for the position of Area Coordinator.

 

Posting Summary

Serve as the primary advisor to UVM Program Board, providing oversight for planning and execution of student-run events. Develop, promote and implement social, educational, and entertainment programs in the Department of Student Life. Select and train student members of Program Board. Support campus-wide programming efforts that meet the University’s social justice and environmental stewardship needs and develop initiatives that improve climate and increase access in the UVM Program Board by non-majority populations. Serve as an actively engaged campus partner and representative of Student Life. Responsible for supporting the mission and philosophy of the Department of Student Life, the Davis Center, the Division of Student Affairs and the University of Vermont. Reports to Assistant Director for Campus Programs.

 

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Bachelor’s degree and one to three years’ experience required. Experience with event or program planning and implementation, familiarity with higher education and the schedule/needs of college students required. Effective interpersonal and communication skills required. Basic computer skills and social media skills required. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, environmental stewardship, and fostering a collaborative, multicultural environment required.

 

Desirable Qualifications

Experience supervising students or past work in higher education environment. Experience with social media and print marketing. A valid US driver’s license. Experience with EMS or Engage platforms.

 

Special Conditions

Weekend work required, non-standard work hours required, a probationary period may be required for current UVM employees, a probationary period may be required.
