Position Summary:

The Center for Human Genomics and Precision Medicine (CHGPM) at the School of Medicine and Public Health is leading a large-scale expansion of the University's activities in applied genomics and personalized medicine. The CHGPM's multifaceted application of genome sciences to clinical medicine encompasses basic, translational and clinical research as well as educational activities and community outreach. The Center seeks an enthusiastic and highly organized Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) to provide support to the Undiagnosed Genetic Disease Program (UDP). The UDP is one of the flagship programs for the Center with the goal of discovering new disease genes and providing a diagnosis to individuals who have been on a long diagnostic odyssey. The CRC will be under the direction of the Genetic Counselor and a primary member of the CHGPM team providing direct support to the UDP on various projects to develop, implement, and enhance clinical and research processes. On the clinical side, this position will interface with the Waisman Center, UW Health personnel and a referral network as necessary to identify, collect, and disseminate patient and protocol information. On the research side, this position with interface with the UW biotechnology center, WI State Lab of Hygiene, and researchers around the world to enroll our patients in additional research studies.

The selected candidate must be able to build interpersonal relationships with constructive interactions with patients, health care providers, staff, and researchers, demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, and promote and create collegial environments that value accountability. Attention to detail, time management, dependability, flexibility and accountability will be critical to the success of this position.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree is required; preferred focus in biological or health sciences, health care, or related field.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Preferred Experience:
- At least 1 year of experience in clinical research or in a clinical setting
- Experience using REDCap and OnCore or similar clinical research databases
- Experience with electronic medical records (preferred Epic experience) and compiling health information

Preferred Skills:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work and effectively communicate with patients, healthcare providers and researchers
- Knowledge and understanding of general medical terminology and clinical methods
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Detail oriented

Prefix assignment will be determined by years of relevant work experience. A minimum of seven years of experience is required for appointment at the senior level.

Additional Information:

The incumbent is expected to follow the policies, procedures, guidelines for excellence and professionalism established by the CHGPM and the University of Wisconsin. Additionally, this position will assure that all clinical research activity adheres to Federal, State, and University policies, procedures and requirements.

This position is currently mostly remote due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, with some onsite work required. In the future, we will explore the opportunity for this position to continue being partially remote.

The School of Medicine and Public Health will not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial Caregiver Check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every four years.

TB testing and a Caregiver Background Check will be required at the time of employment.
