Position Summary:

Under general supervision of the Administrative Program Specialist, this position provides program support to supervisory administrative, and laboratory staff in Newborn Screening (NBS) within the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene. This position enters patient demographic information into the computer system, including but not limited to infants name, mothers name, birth date and time, specimen collection date and time, mothers hepatitis B surface antigen results, infants hearing results, hearing risk factors. Position also responds to requests for medical information from hospitals, clinics and physicians, performs a variety of clerical tasks in support of NBS and ensures the accuracy and completeness of patient data.

The employee in this position is expected to use the tools and principles of quality management in their daily work including the following: Demonstrate exceptional customer service by establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with managers, supervisor, co-workers and all customers; have knowledge of medical terminology to assist in customer service needs; provide constructive feedback for the purpose of continuous improvement in a manner this is supportive of the WSLH and its mission; use data collection tools as appropriate; use effective team skills to contribute to the efficient operation of the work unit; present ideas, carry out assignments and provide information as required; and participate in continuous learning through professional development activities. This position must be able to type 50 words per minute. The position is scheduled to work weekdays, weekends and occasional holidays.

1-2 years of data entry experience, preferred
0-1 years of laboratory experience, preferred
Skill in using Epic Systems Beaker application, preferred.
