Job Summary
Tutor students in various Physics courses taught at Johnson County Community College. Other responsibilities include referring students to appropriate resources, assist students with computer software necessary for the courses, help with the basic math skills to solve problems in Physics, mentor new tutors, work in outreach programs and other duties as requested by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with successful completion of a two-semester sequence of calculus based introductory physics as well as a course in mechanics and a course in electricity and magnetism or a degree in Physics.
At least one year of tutoring/teaching experience.
Must be familiar with laboratory techniques.
Must be able to help with computer programs.
Good communication skills, including listening with understanding and patience.
Ability to explain concepts and solving word problems in Physics, both orally and in written form in a one to one or small group setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in physics - Bachelor’s or higher.
2 years teaching experience.
