Job Description:

The Project Management Office (PMO) is part of the University of Florida’s Information Technology organization. Our primary goals are to standardize project-related governance processes and facilitate the sharing of resources, methodologies, tools, and techniques. Through project management and software procedures, the University can document, execute, monitor, control, and fully implement changes regarding unique products, services, or even standard business processes.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:
• Work with customer(s) to define project scope, objectives, outcomes, and benefits.
• Ensure projects managed adhere to defined quality standards, policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Meet with technical resources and architects to ensure the design and approach chosen to execute the project will meet the needs of the customer.
• Lead projects from original concept through final implementation that are the responsibility of the Project Management Office.
• Work in a collaborative team environment, participate in the full software development life cycle and produce quality enterprise solutions.
• Lead medium and large sized projects across multi-disciplinary teams, composed of various levels of personnel, vendors, and clients to create and deploy successful projects.
• Ensure assignments of appropriate resources and governance structures according to project needs.
• Manage scope, schedule, and resources and accomplish project objectives by applying project management competencies.
• Develop detail work plans, resource plans, project estimates and status reports.

Expected Salary:

$75,000 – $90,000; commensurate based on education and experience. In addition, the University of Florida offers a very competitive benefits package. https://benefits.hr.ufl.edu/

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree and four years of relevant experience.

Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience but does not negate the minimum degree requirement(s).

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience and skills:
• Creativity in problem analysis and resolution; applies existing knowledge, strategies, and techniques in resolution of new problems
• Contributes to the overall project planning and execution strategy
• Works effectively independently, or as a project team member

Preferred skills, expertise and experience:
• Project management/systems development life cycle skills including scope and issue management, schedule management, and deliverable oriented delivery
• Motivational and facilitation skills

To be successful in this position, the incumbent must:
• Have the ability to work in an open office/collaborative environment
• Possess professional, effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Think analytically and possess problem solving abilities
• Be a self-starter requiring little direct supervision
