The University of Maryland School of Social Work has an
exciting opportunity for an Admissions
Recruiter. The Admissions Recruiter is an
integral resource person for the School of Social Work admissions,
field, and teaching staff at both the Universities at Shady Grove
(USG) and Baltimore MSW program locations. This
position will fulfill a vital role towards serving the USG
prospective/current student community, faculty, field students, and
reaching the recruitment goals of the School’s strategic
plan. This position requires access to reliable
transportation for travel up to two (2) days a week.
The University of Maryland School of Social Work (SSW) was created
in 1961 and has grown to become one of the largest and most
respected schools of social work. U.S. News & World Report
ranks the School among the top 20 schools of social work in the
country. SSW has become the leader in social work education for the
state of Maryland with a growing national and international
audience. For the last decade, the School's faculty publishing rate
has placed it in the top 10 nationally in terms of the number of
articles published in scholarly journals. The SSW provides 500,000
hours of social work services a year within the state of Maryland
and surrounding communities. Through field placements, the
Community Outreach Service, Promise Heights program, Family
Connections program, and the Institute for Innovation and
Implementation, the School is active in helping meet social work
needs throughout Baltimore and beyond. The School of Social

Essential Functions
Experience: One (1) year of experience in recruitment, marketing, admissions, student enrollment, or related field is preferred. Experience working in a higher education setting is preferred. Social work practice experience is preferred.
Other: Related experience may be substituted for education. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The Hiring Range for this position is in the mid $40,000s to low $50,000s, commensurate with education and experience.

Essential Functions
- Coordinates recruitment efforts under the direction of the Associate Dean for Admissions and Enrollment.
- Plans and coordinates marketing and e-communications using social media & broadcast emailing.
- Builds relationships with institutional partners whose undergraduates or workforce is suited for the MSW program.
- Assists prospective applicants with admissions inquires & application process.
- Strengthens the School of Social Work’s climate for diversity, equity & inclusion
- Reviews admission applications during the fall and spring semesters.
- Maintains database tracking of communications with prospective MSW students.
- Supports and enhances a sense of belonging and success of students from traditionally marginalized populations.
- Coordinates recruitment events/services at both the USG and Baltimore locations (Open Houses, Information Sessions, and open office hours).
- Develops relevant recruitment materials for students (FAQs).
- Interacts with prospective students by phone, email and in-person.
- Employs anti-racist practices and principles to accomplish work.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
