Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor 12, Speech Language Pathology

Position Summary

The Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences ( CDS ), University at Buffalo, The State University of New York is seeking a scientist-practitioner whose primary responsibilities are to provide clinical supervision, practical training, classroom teaching and community-based program development for graduate students enrolled in the Master’s program. This individual is also expected to be well-grounded in Evidence-Based Practice and will be expected to train graduate students to use current research findings to structure their diagnostics and therapy practices. This is a 12-month, non-tenure-track faculty position.

Individuals considering applying for this position should have expertise in one or more of the following areas: 1) medical speech pathology- all levels of care, 2) adult dysarthria and apraxia, 3) voice disorders, 4) aphasia, head injury, dementia.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Speech-language pathology or equivalent field; doctoral level preferred from an accredited program.
• ASHA CCC - SLP /eligible for NYS licensure.
• Demonstrated areas of specialty such as: adult speech disorders, voice, aphasia, head injury, and/or other medical speech-pathology areas, etc.
• Skills in adult speech and language assessment using up-to-date clinical tools.
• Use of Web-based tracking program for clinical knowledge, skills, and clinical hours for graduate clinicians.
• Minimum Work Experience: 4 years clinical experience, 2 years clinical supervision experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Communication Disorders and Sciences
• Prior teaching experience in communicative disorders and sciences university courses
• Able to initiate and/or participate in clinical research projects.
