UNC Asheville is the University of North Carolina System's
designated public liberal arts and sciences university. Originally
founded in 1927 as a two-year junior college, the University has
been a cornerstone in the Asheville community for nearly a century.
It is now home to more than 20,000 alumni and countless friends who
consider UNCA as their "home" University. The Director of
Engagement for Alumni and Friends ("Director") is a critical role
for enhancing the University's connection to its alumni, donors and
friends. Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor of External and
University Relations, the Director will provide strategy,
leadership and support to the institution's overall alumni and
friends' engagement goals and objectives. The Director will be
responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive
strategy to meaningfully engage alumni and friends to deepen their
connections to UNC Asheville. The Director understands that all
outreach and engagement efforts should ultimately inspire
participation in philanthropy. The Director will work
collaboratively with the members of the Advancement team and key
campus partners to pursue and promote the overall institutional
goals related to engagement and advancement. As the University
looks toward its first comprehensive fundraising campaign, the
Director will be responsible for using the campaign as an
opportunity to creatively inspire alumni and friends to participate
in this historic fundraising effort.
