About the Opportunity:
The Administrative Assistant is responsible for communications and outreach, including social media, SharePoint, newsletters, websites and email lists, for the Department of Philosophy and Religion, the Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) Program, and the Ethics Institute. Responsible for scheduling, organizing, marketing and supporting on-campus and off-campus events and activities, such as conferences, workshops, guest speakers, field trips, student events and candidate visits, for the Department, PPE Program, and Ethics Institute. Assist undergraduate student organizations (including the philosophy club, and PPE club) with communications, events and activities. Support for faculty on matters related to teaching, including for the Department and PPE program undergraduate curriculum committees, Department chair, and undergraduate program directors. Facilitate submissions of new courses and changes to courses and curriculum. Assist with design and facilitate departmental student evaluations and student surveys. Coordinate with college advising, cooperative education, the honors program, and other college and university undergraduate activities. Organize and maintain records and materials related to the undergraduate program, such as university, college and departmental policies, student evaluations and course materials. Provide support for new initiatives and projects for the Department, PPE program, and Ethics Institute. Assist with collecting, organizing and analyzing materials and data for Department, PPE Program, Ethics Institute, and faculty reviews. Assist with preparation of Department, PPE and Ethics Institute grant applications. Liaison and first point of contact for matters relating to the Department and PPE undergraduate programs, as well as the Ethics Institute, including for students, alumni, visitors, and telephone and general email queries. Assist with daily operation and maintenance of departmental spaces, as well as supervision of work-study students.

Responsibilities:

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (including very strong writing and proofreading skills) required. High degree of proficiency with MS Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required. Experience with website design and maintenance required. High degree of diplomacy, customer service and organizational skills required. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, respond to last minute requests, solve problems, act with discretion, maintain confidentiality, and maintain professional demeanor at all times. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Preferred Qualifications:

2 to 4 years of administrative support experience preferred. Proficiency in WordPress a plus.
