Position Summary:
The Associate Director role will focus primarily on student retention, the student experience and student development from admission to graduation. This will be executed through the implementation of programs, initiatives and policies that uplifts a sense of belonging, advocates for, celebrates global cultures and ensures a safe space for underrepresented students to refresh and renew, while driving a global mindset that prepares students to be competitive in a diverse world economy.

This position will oversee the redevelopment of the Rodney Gross Scholars Program and the administration of the scholarship awards process. The candidate will be an authority and advocate in support of African American student areas of concern, implementing heritage month events, and lead the planning for Black History Month.

Minimum Education:
•Master’s Degree
•Degree in Student Personnel Services, Higher Education Administration, or in an academic discipline or related field is preferred.

Minimum Experience:
•Three years’ experience working in a university setting; Demonstrated Ability to work with diverse students.
•Experience working with and managing underrepresented populations.
•Student development theory, counseling and leadership development.
•Current on higher education trends and issues with impact on retention of diverse students.

Plans, coordinates and executes programs, initiatives and experiences that celebrate the culture, contributions and richness of underrepresented students to the campus community.
Attends to the needs of underrepresented students by fostering allyship amongst and between underrepresented student populations, advocating and effectively communicating for them, ensuring these students have the resources to thrive at the University and
Collaborates with the EKU community and community partners to support the full college experience of students; including support for student orientation, career education, celebrating the culture and future of underrepresented students, and implementing a
Support and participate in the recruitment of underrepresented students to the university through community connections and collaboration with departments that lead recruitment efforts.
Support office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned.
