Position Summary:
The ideal candidate will join a vibrant and inclusive educational community, and have a desire and ability to work with a diverse population.
The Director of Accessibility Resources will provide leadership, direction and guidance to promote inclusiveness and support across the MassBay College community, on campus and remote, for students with disabilities and ensure equal educational access. The Director will supervise staff at all locations of the Accessibility Resources Center, including the staff of the Transitional Scholars Program. In addition, the Director will create and evaluate related program activities for students, create disability awareness curricula, and conduct professional development activities for faculty and staff.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Develop, direct, supervise, implement and evaluate all aspects of the Accessibility Resources Center and Transitional Scholars Program;
  • Ensure compliance with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504, including maintaining confidential records pertaining to accommodations;
  • Oversee the development, design and implementation of procedures, forms, and materials required for successful operations, which may also include remote operations;
  • Act as a campus and community resource to identify and address architectural and accessibility related concerns at the college;
  • Create and maintain an assessment plan to measure program use and outcomes on student learning, to ensure the effectiveness and relevance of accommodation efforts and to improve student learning;
  • Develop and update ongoing functional mission and strategic planning (including goals, objectives, and learning outcomes) to facilitate and increase accommodation services in order to increase student success.
  • Create, compile and maintain annual reports, trends, emergent issues, and new resources;
  • Oversee the delivery of support services such as learning disabilities assessment, readers, note takers, scribes, interpreters, CART, test proctors, assistive technology, etc;
  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate full and part-time staff in the Office of Accessibility Resources and Transitional Scholars Program;
  • Respond to inquiries regarding established policies and procedures pertaining to disability resources;
  • Act a resource for faculty and staff on issues related to the provision of services for students with disabilities;
  • Develop and present training activities to area staff on best practices for supporting students with disabilities;
  • Create professional development opportunities to inform the broader college community of current and best practices for supporting students with disabilities;
  • Provide guidance and advice on reasonable accommodations, and work with staff, students and/or external advocates to effectively resolve issues related to accommodations;
  • Represent the college in regional and state-wide professional organizations and activities, professional conferences, workshops and webinars;
  • Maintain and monitor budget records and expenditures for the Accessibility Resources Center and Transitional Scholars Program;
  • Participate and provide leadership for committees as assigned, department meetings and district-level activities when appropriate;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in education/special education, higher education administration, counseling, social work, psychology or related field with a minimum of three years professional experience providing services to people with a wide range of disabilities within a postsecondary institution or equal experience with skills is required;
  • Demonstrated effectiveness and experience supervising, instructing and reviewing the work of subordinates;
  • Knowledge of and experience interpreting and applying Federal Regulation 504 and the Americans with Disabilities Act;
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret results of various assessments and diagnostics tools used to diagnose different types of disabilities and make recommendations for reasonable accommodations;
  • Knowledge of various disabilities, including learning, mobility, visual, hearing, medical, psychiatric and related reasonable accommodations that apply;
  • Ability to create and conduct effective programming for students with diverse abilities is required;
  • Ability to create and conduct professional development programming for faculty and staff;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with students, faculty, staff and the community and work in a diverse environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least two years of experience in a supervisor role, preferably in higher education;
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft (Bay Navigator) or equivalent student data base systems and comfortable working in Microsoft Office and other systems;

Salary Range: $90,000.00 - 100,000.00 Annual Salary
