Duties and Responsibilities
Loyola University Medical Center, Department of Radiation Oncology, seeks a post-doctoral fellow to perform research in the Division of Medical Physics. The successful candidate should have a PhD in physics, medical physics, engineering, computer science or related field. Candidates having the following background are preferred: strong interest in applying machine learning and artificial intelligence to problems in radiation oncology; strong computer skills with knowledge of Python and Matlab; knowledge of imaging application in radiation oncology; experience with DICOM and image processing is also desired. The Department of Radiation Oncology is located in Loyola Outpatient Center. The Department has a variety of state-of-the-art equipment including the Varian Edge, two Varian TrueBeam, Varian 2100EX linac, two multi-slice CT scanners, and a GammaMed Plus High Dose Rate Brachytherapy unit. Treatment planning software consists of Varian Eclipse and BrachyVision. Aria software is used for the radiation oncology information management system. The Department has 6 faculty physicists, 4 clinical physicists and a medical physics residency program. Loyola University Medical Center is located just west of Chicago, and is easily accessible to all the amenities that a large city has to offer, including multiple professional sports teams (football, baseball, basketball, hockey), cultural activities (art museum, museum of natural history, science museum), and diverse ethnic neighborhoods with a variety of fine dining experiences.
