Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Sr. Assistant Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will coordinate at a high-level athletic injury prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation for VCU intercollegiate student-athletes. The sport assignments will be Women’s Field Hockey and Men’s Golf. Employee is required to keep accurate records of all treatments of athletic injuries and organize the training room.

Minimum Hiring Standards

Minimum hiring standards include:
-Bachelor’s degree;
-Two (2) years’ experience working within collegiate athletics;
-Valid driver’s license and ability to drive University vehicles;
-Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU ; and
-Able to work independently, as well as part of a team, in a multi-tasking environment, with a strong sense of principles and ethics in regard to the welfare of the student-athletes.

Preferred Hiring Standards

Preferred hiring standards include:
-Experience working with field hockey and/or golf student athletes;
-Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, which include nights and weekends; and
-Advanced degree or experience, which equates to an advanced degree.

Required Licenses/ Certifications

Current CPR / AED /First Aid certifications and NATABOC certification.

Employee must be eligible for the Virginia Athletic Trainer License.

Anticipated Hiring Range $40,000 - $43,000 Application Process/Additional Information
