Statement of Job:

The Geography-Anthropology department at the University of Southern Maine invites applications for Part Time Faculty to teach an introductory lecture class in cultural anthropology on the Gorham campus and the Lewiston-Auburn campus. The courses will run in person during the Fall 2021 semester, starting August 29-December 31, on a schedule to be determined with job candidate .

Responsibilities include developing a course syllabus and adhering to the corresponding schedule of course content; responding to student inquiries of course material, both during class time and over email; administering course assignments and/or exams; and grading student coursework in a timely manner.

Part time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior college teaching experience. In addition, USM employees, have access to the library, Cigna Employee Assistance Plan, and fitness center (s) with their USM Card. USM also offers Part time faculty the opportunity for development frequently through our Center for Collaboration and Development (CCD), the chance to get an online teaching certification and training through CTEL, in addition to other developmental opportunities open to all staff throughout the year.

Qualifications:

ABD or PhD in anthropology required. Preference is for a candidate with undergraduate teaching experience.
