Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager of User Video Services, this position will collaborate with the Center for Teaching and Learning ( CTL ) to ensure maintenance, stabilization and build-out of the college Learning Management System ( LMS ) Canvas, to include third-party integration. This position keeps the learning environment scalable and sustainable, executing precise testing protocols and change management while ensuring parity between testing and production environments.
This position is responsible for participates in documentation of the learning environment, and evaluation of additional tools that work in concert with the learning platform to provide a full range of functionality for learning and teaching.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performance Requirements
• Builds courses within the Canvas LMS and discovers/implements Canvas features for effective course delivery
• Analyzes systems requirements and performance and develops specific measures to increase the overall efficiency
• Tests and performs backup restoration operation as required to meet business needs
• Understands Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and ensures vendors are providing/maintaining appropriate services in line with SLAs by conducting periodic performance audits
• Performs basic level system testing related to LMS issues, service pack upgrades, and patch set releases
• Creates and edits LMS tip sheet material
• Stay current with new technologies in the field through research, conferences, podcasts, webinars, and trade publications
• Implements feedback provided by faculty related to course content changes and improvements

General Supervision and Management
• Collaborates on special projects, tasks, and assignments related to online teaching and learning
• Provides guidance and expert advice to management and other departments on technical, systems or process-related topics
• Provides technical support to end-users for both hardware and software issues including installation, configuration and maintenance of operating systems, workstations and servers, in support of complex processing requirements

Service Excellence
• Provides extensive operational support, file restorations, backups, disk space management and problem resolution for operating system (OS) platforms
• Supports and maintains the learning environment security requirements while abiding by applicable TCC policies, standards and procedures
• Provides Level 2 LMS technical support to all faculty, staff, and students via phone, support ticket, and/or in-person meeting
• Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College ( TCC )
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
• Supports the College mission, values, and 3 Goals and 8 Principles
• Attends the workplace regularly and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite

SUPERVISION – Works under the general supervision of the Manager of User Video Services

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Computer Technology, Information Technology, Business or a related area and three (3) years related work experience in Learning Management Systems; or, an equivalent combination of experience, education, training, and certification

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Computer Technology, Information Technology, Business or a related area
• Previous experience working with Canvas LMS
• Previous experience with LMS integrations
• Previous experience in a college and/or university setting
• Experience with vendor management
• Experience supervising employees (e.g., managing and evaluation performance of others)

Knowledge, Skills and Ability

• Demonstrate understanding of and comfort with computer-based technology and mastering new technologies/digital platforms/systems
• Ability to install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc., in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
• Proven knowledge of server and PC operating systems, including cloud-based system operations
• Manages the delivery, development, and strategy of instructional technology services
• Able to perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
• Experience with server performance tuning and monitoring tools
• Experience in designing/converting curriculum to an online format
• Excellent communication (written, verbal, listening and public speaking) skills
• Must be service-oriented with a focus on helping others
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite
• Dedicated to exceeding customers’ expectations and focused on improving service
• Takes ownership for actions and has a timely follow-up on commitments
