Provides assistance and expertise in various areas of research such as calibration of instrumentation, equipment maintenance and repair, preparation of samples for testing, monitoring of safety equipment and procedures, development and fabrication of prototype equipment, recording of test results, and basic analyses of data.Ensures experiments are preformed according to specification. May make practical technical recommendations to changes in procedures, equipment, or prototype design.Applies basic skill and develops advanced skills.Duties: Varied but standardized. Often assists with, and may perform, some advanced functions. Solves most routine problems while referring more complex questions to higher levels.Supervision: Receives direct supervision but is expected to select from a variety of standard procedures to complete tasks.

Additional Job Detatils

Researcher Technician 2 position will require working with animals, conducting experiments in a laboratory setting and laboratory management. They will be conducting a variety of animal behavioral testing paradigms and procedures, collating data and contribute to data base
management. Knowledge of biochemical assays such as Western Blot and ELISA along with laboratory management skills is desirable. They will also help implement new techniques and procedures depending upon grant goals. The candidate will also be responsible for general laboratory maintenance and restocking consumables through our online system. The candidate will need to comply with all governmental and University of Houston policies, rules, regulations and codes. They will also need to maintain training certifications required to work with animals and conduct experiments in a laboratory.

Qualifications :

Associate's Degree with 1 years experience.

Preferred: Experience working with both rats and mice and conducting minor surgery.
