Known as “New York’s law school,” NYLS embraces the city as its classroom by complementing a rigorous legal education with an innovative and diverse set of “uniquely New York” experiential learning opportunities. Its renowned faculty of prolific scholars has built the School’s strength in key areas of the law, including business and financial services, intellectual property and privacy, and government and public interest law. In close collaboration with the SVP/CFO, the VPF leads the development and implementation of NYLS’s $53-million annual operating budget, including detailed forecasts of tuition and scholarship revenue. The VPF will develop budget scenarios and initiatives, and ensure that all expense budgets and income projections are current and accurate. The VPF will help manage NYLS’s $200-million endowment in coordination with the School’s Investment Committee and external investment manager and advisor. In addition, the VPF will identify opportunities to leverage technology to increase productivity, customer service, and support.

The successful candidate will have extensive financial management experience at a senior leadership level, preferably in higher education, health care, or another nonprofit organization, at a senior leadership level with a strong understanding of nonprofit accounting and financial management. A skilled and inspirational financial leader, the VPF will foster a transparent, accountable, and collaborative approach to financial and budgetary decision-making across the School. The new VPF will be a proven change agent with the skills and experience to facilitate and coordinate change. A bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a minimum of seven to 10 years of a senior-level accounting/finance and reporting position is required.
