About the Position:
The Office of Student Retention is focused on persistence and graduate rates of students, aiming to empower Titans in the process of matriculation. At first glance, professional growth and academic success are the focuses of this area, yet it is more about the relationships that are developed to foster such success. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Student Services Professional II. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under general direction, the Student Services Professional II hires and trains Supplemental Instruction (SI) leaders. Assists with advertising positions, gathers faculty member nominations, interviews candidates and works with administrative staff to complete hiring paperwork. Assists in the selection and training of SI Leaders. Plans and conducts ongoing training sessions for SI Leaders throughout the semester. Encourages and assist SI Leaders in the creation of SI session handouts and planning SI sessions using identified learning strategies. Provides administrative and leadership functions including arranging facilities for SI sessions and assist with the planning of periodic group meetings of all SI Leaders and meet regularly with other campus SI supervisory staff. Works with the SI Assistant Director to assess SI program and make recommendations for solutions. Gathers and analyzes data associated with the SI program. Markets and promotes the SI program including producing and distributing flyers, use of social media, and maintaining a web presence. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public administration, business administration or a job-related field and two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or a related field. A master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience. Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational management, research, and interview techniques. Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations, obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews, and advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters. Ability to reason logically and use initiative in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements. Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, supervise, and organize programs and activities. Ability to interact with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the public. Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures, activities, and of the overall organization.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Supplemental Instruction Certification from the University of Missouri - Kansas City

Experience as an SI Leader or teaching experience
