The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) of the Faculty of Science and Technology invites applications for the position of Associate/Assistant Professor in Ocean and Coastal Environment whose research focus should be in ocean environment, ocean ecology, coastal and offshore related disciplines for the newly established Centre for Regional Oceans (CRO)

 

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The emphasis of our programmes is directed to the areas of Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation, Water Resources and Coastal Disaster Prevention. The objective of our undergraduate programme is to educate and train the students to be civil engineers with formation of good scientific knowledge, sound engineering practice and leadership skills; and to prepare them for their advanced education at international standard. Currently, it has 21 full-time academic staff, around 230 undergraduates and 110 graduate students. UM is among the top 1% in ESI (Essential Sciences Indicators) rankings in Engineering. In the THE World University Ranks, the Engineering and Technology programme is ranked among the 126th – 150th.

 

The Centre for Regional Oceans (CRO) is a newly established research centre in the Faculty of Science and Technology with the purpose of advancing the ocean-related research of UM. In recent years, CRO has newly established 4 laboratories, namely Laboratory for Ocean Environmental Pollution Analysis and Assessment, Laboratory for Ocean Environmental Pollution Prevention and Remediation, Laboratory for Ocean Environmental Simulation and Modelling and Laboratory for Ocean and Atmospheric Research. CRO is expected to deliver impactful research in ocean environment, ocean ecology, coastal and offshore engineering.

 

Qualifications

The candidates must have an earned PhD Degree in related areas. Preference will be given to candidates with specialties in Ocean and Coastal Environment.

 

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in December 2021.

 

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP828,100 (approximately USD102,230) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
