The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies (DPHIL) of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) invites applications for the position of Chair/Distinguished/Full Professor in Chinese and Comparative Philosophy.The area of competence is open.

 

The academic staff of FAH-DPHIL include renowned and innovative senior and junior scholars from different places of the world such as China, Europe and North America. This is a newly established department. The department participates actively in the University-wide General Education programme and offers PhD supervision across the range of the department’s expertise in both Eastern and Western philosophical and religious traditions and methodologies.

 

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD in Philosophy, Religious Studies or in a related area and are expected to play a leading role in the fields of Chinese Philosophy and/or Comparative Philosophy. Applicants should have an excellent record of tertiary teaching and supervision experience and a distinguished record of research and publication at an international level. Fluency in English and Chinese is also expected.

 

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty as early as December 2021.

 

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,210,300 (approximately USD149,420) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions. Apart from competitive remuneration, UM offers a wide range of benefits, such as medical insurance, provident fund, on campus accommodation/housing allowance and other subsidies.
