Position Summary
The Warehouse Coordinator ensures safe and efficient operation of University Housing & Dining Warehouse Operations. This position ensures the timely distribution of product and supplies ordered by various units throughout University Housing Dining Services. The person in this position assigns daily workload and assignments/priorities to warehouse staff, assists with prioritizing and consolidating deliveries and use of delivery vehicles to ensure deliveries are made in a timely manner.

The person in this position will be responsible for determining optimal reorder points and quantities to maintain adequate stock, ensuring rotation of date sensitive products/materials and assigning inventory control numbers to items for accurate inventory. Frequent use of computers is required for maintaining inventory records. Work is performed primarily in a warehouse environment. This position drives delivery vehicles, operates forklifts, motorized and manual pallet jacks, hand trucks, flat bed carts, etc., in order to deliver supplies to various units.

This position leads the work of staff and student employees and reports to the Assistant Director of Dining, Culinary Operations. Prompt, courteous customer service is essential to the success of this position and all related units and vendors are considered customers of the warehouse. Telephone use is the primary means of communication. This position adheres to the Service Standards set by Housing Food Services and sets the example for others by exhibiting appropriate professional behavior, creating a respectful and inclusive work environment. This is a full-time, 12-month position and shifts may include nights, weekends and holidays.

Work Conditions and Physical Demands
This position requires pushing/pulling of supply carts which could weigh over 100lbs, lifting of 40 pounds or more on a regular basis, standing, walking, lifting, carrying for long periods of time every day, stooping, twisting, reaching and bending frequently.

Special Requirements
This position requires qualifying for and maintaining a UO driver's certification, the ability to obtain a Lane County Food Handler's Card within two weeks of employment, wearing slip resistant work boots with either steel or composite protective toe and wearing long pants (no shorts).

Essential Personnel
This position requires the employee to make every reasonable effort to arrive at campus at their regularly scheduled times during inclement weather and/or university closures unless otherwise notified by their supervisor or manager. This includes times when the university may be closed. Essential personnel must provide reliable and current contact information at all times.

Minimum Requirements
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations and storeroom methods in the areas of shipping/receiving, delivery/stock rotation and inventory control procedures; AND
  • Knowledge of transportation agencies and shipping methods

    Professional Competencies
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate a step van, electric forklift, electric and manual pallet jacks and various delivery carts
  • Knowledge and ability to use a 10-key calculator
  • Ability to pass a training test
  • Ability to maintain a safety-conscious workplace

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Warehouse experience in a large, complex organization
  • Loading dock experience serving tractor/trailer trucks
  • Lead work experience
  • Possess basic computer skills and familiarity with related computer software (email, Excel spreadsheets, shipping applications, etc.)
