Work Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $6,418 - $7,500 monthly/$77,016 - $90,000 annually.

The Human Resources Department provides service in the areas of benefits, compensation, employee and labor relations, employment, payroll, performance management, recognition, training and development, leaves of absence. The department also focuses on and serves diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives relating to policies, procedures, and programming as they relate to Human Resources and the campus community as a whole.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Human Resources and Co-Chief Diversity Officer (AVPHR/CDO), the Diversity and Inclusion Manager provides organizational and logistical leadership to Human Resources and the diversity and inclusion projects by supporting and facilitating its common mission for an inclusive and respectful work environment. The incumbent will provide ongoing execution of data reporting, analysis, communications, and unique programs to facilitate strategies that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Diversity and Inclusion Manager is responsible for recognizing, creating and implementing plans and policies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within CSUSB. A significant part of the role is promoting and developing training programs, overseeing educational programming, collaborating and participating in diversity executive teams including, the Council on Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity (CODIE), and creating cross-functional human resources practices to enhance organizational understanding of inclusion issues that play an active role in enhancing the University's responsiveness to creating an increasingly diverse campus and community. The Diversity and Inclusion Manager acts as an HR representative on staff diversity, equity, and inclusion issues and is tasked with ensuring the organization follows appropriate legislation, employment law regulations, non-discrimination, harassment, and retaliation policies, and serves as the HR liaison for staff diversity issues.
The Diversity and Inclusion Manager is a strategic leader that will create important linkages with other functional areas across the university community. Incumbent must have a true commitment to the advancement of diversity, inclusion, and equity and must demonstrate the desire to work with diverse groups of individuals across the university community. Interpersonal contacts are varied, often at a higher level, and tend to involve a broad range of problem-solving activities and recommending resourceful solutions. The successful candidate must be proactive, possessing the ability to stay several steps ahead in anticipating the needs of the AVPHR/CDO and trending diversity initiatives. Typical activities include, but are not limited to:
- Establish strategies to advance Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) in all Human Resources (HR) programming including creating alignment within CSUSB's D&I core values and promoting a commitment to equal access for all across all HR practices.
- Collaborate with the Council for Diversity & Inclusion Excellence (CODIE), the University Diversity Committee (UDC) and Student Affairs, including campus affinity groups, ensure D&I endeavors continue evolving the University's definition of D&I beyond current protected statuses e.g. race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, veteran status, to a state education and understanding among ideological perspectives.
- Serve as the Human Resources representative on the University Diversity Committee (UDC).
- Develop best practice D&I programs for staff that generates awareness and promotes D&I across the University's organizational landscape.
- Collaborate with the Office of Institutional Research, in the development of staff metrics/dashboards to bring visibility to D&I endeavors related to staff recruitments, and act as the spokesperson for Human Resources on staffing DEI metrics across campus constituent groups.
- Provide ongoing execution of data reporting, analysis, communications, and unique programs to facilitate strategies that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. Assess the outcomes of those initiatives with a particular focus on their impact, as related to recruitment and retention.
- Manage diversity-related learning experiences, including the creation of customized programs, to integrate and adapt diversity principles and priorities into leadership curriculum.
- Actively collaborate with the Staff Development Center to create and propose new training to promote inclusivity and equity across campus. This includes, but is not limited to 1) Leading the training and education of search committees on diversity outreach; 2) Creating awareness of implicit bias; 3) Creating awareness of cultural wealth and how to work effectively in a diverse environment; 4) Advancing non-discrimination and promoting inclusiveness; and 5) Proposing, recommending and facilitating DEI training and education programs for the campus community.
- Lead the annual Women's Leadership initiative by chairing the Women's Leadership Conference (WLC), including the overseeing of a large group of staff members across campuses and divisions; creating committee assignment descriptions, assigning roles to each member, and overseeing the timeline and all WLC endeavors.

- Offer D&I program support to major initiatives across campus, including, gender equity movement, women and students of color, and minority-serving institution programs.
- Serve on and take leadership roles in equity and inclusion task forces such as: African American and Native American task forces.
- Collaborate with HR Managers and/or Hiring Managers to develop recruitment plans that promote D&I and equitable hiring practices.
- Provide specific, practical, and actionable tools and resources (i.e. dashboards, templates, protocols, practices etc.) for HR to help advance D&I conversations within each HR functional area.
- Consult with Talent Acquisition teams to diversify talent pipelines and to collaborate with external industry partners as necessary to strengthen CSUSB talent pools.
- Collaborate with HR managers, create templates for writing position announcements that promote consistency, D&I, in additional to the university's vision, mission and core values.
- Participate in searches by acting as a resource to hiring managers, search committees, to assist departments with a D&I focus in recruitment processes, including the development and review of recruitment bulletins, interview questions; and conducting D&I training.
- Stay current with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Affirmative Action Plan, regulations, CSU non-discrimination policies, and relevant case law, to inform D&I practices and assist with corresponding training.
- Responsible for overseeing the development of CSUSB's annual affirmative action plan, by engaging and gathering metrics from appropriate university stakeholders, developing and facilitating corresponding training on affirmative action plan.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred)
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in diversity and inclusion in higher education.
- Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail, including excellent written and verbal skills, able to create draft communications for executive review and approval; ability to write memos and letters, and prepare reports and information for distribution.
- Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, board members, external partners and donors.
- Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem solving with strong decision-making capability.
- Highly resourceful team player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently; able to handle a variety of personalities with multiple demands with constantly changing priorities and schedules in a high-pressure, dynamic work environment.
