General Description:

The Business Services Analyst (BSA) will assist the Director in implementing and maintaining Coeus training and outreach initiatives that will dramatically change the way research proposals are prepared, routed and submitted to sponsors. The BSA will contribute to the long term development of Coeus, and will be responsible for training faculty and staff and Research Administration Office staff on the use of Coeus and Grants.gov through workshops, individual training, and developing training materials. The BSA will have primary responsibility for the Award, Sub-Award, and Compliance modules within Coeus, and is expected to have moderate knowledge of all other modules.

On an on-going basis, help to plan, develop, write, coordinate, and conduct comprehensive training and development programs for faculty and staff in the research community to assist JHE in adopting and using Coeus and Grants.gov electronic submission process. Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of on-going Coeus related educational tools for the research community. Assist in the training of ORIS team members to act as training team and technical support. Coordinate with Research Administration offices and other functional areas, like Sponsored Shared Services, to ensure seamless implementation of cross-functional processes. Provide advice, guidance and assistance to Research Administration office staff in the creation of complex Coeus account structures, such as Consortiums, cost sharing, and the use of award and input templates to aid in their efficient maintenance. Support the Director in the establishment of on-campus user groups to promote acceptance of new processes and systems. Serve as a technical resource for faculty and staff in the research community utilizing JH systems and tools such as SAP, Business Warehouse, eIS, and other systems. Troubleshooting support for departmental and divisional Coeus related problems (i.e., use of specific software such as Adobe as required by Grants.gov). Develop instructional aids and materials for presentations/workshops. Develop templates, slides, and web-based materials for Enterprise-wide use. Advise users on system changes and the impact of those changes.

Qualifications:

  • Requires Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 years of experience in Research Administration/Sponsored Projects Administration (pre- and post-award management).
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

  • Communicate ramifications to current projects to staff, faculty, and other research administrators; Excellent writing skills to develop concise and understandable documents (such as web pages, reports, training and supplemental materials)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to convey information to faculty, staff and University officials
  • Self-motivated individual; ability to work effectively both independently and cooperatively, and has had proven success working as a member of a team.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
