JOB DESCRIPTION

The Department of Global Languages and Cross-Cultural Studies in the Shaheen College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Indianapolis is seeking an Associate Adjunct in German beginning in August 2021, for a nine-month, non-tenure track faculty position. The ability to teach primarily during the day is required. The Associate Adjunct will teach 15 to 21 hours of German courses per year such as German for beginners (101-102) and Intermediate German (201), and other courses as needed.

Please submit a CV, cover letter, most recent two semesters of student evaluations (if available), most recent two peer or supervisor observations (if available), teaching philosophy, and unofficial transcripts of highest degree achieved.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach 15-21 credit hours per year
  • Keep up with current teaching best practices
  • Design courses and syllabi that conform to University and Department requirements and expectations
  • Plan lessons
  • Grade assignments, tests, etc.
  • Respond to student needs in person or electronically
  • Manage online platforms to offer additional educational experiences for our students


QUALIFICATIONS

  • MA, ABD, or PhD in German/Germanic Studies or related discipline required
  • A record of successful teaching preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting all students, including first generation and historically marginalized students preferred
