JOB DESCRIPTION

The University of Indianapolis is accepting applications for an Assistant Director of Student Activities. This is a full-time, exempt staff position. The Assistant Director of Student Activities provides oversight for programs, volunteerism, and student organizations, including coordinating, supervising, and evaluating a full range of activities and programs for the student body. The staff member serves as a part of the Office of Student Affairs team and will be involved in a variety of aspects of campus life.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advise the Student Leadership & Activities Board (SLAB) in planning social, cultural, educational, and recreational programs, as well as special events such as homecoming, midnight breakfast, and family weekend
  • Manage Registered Student Organization (RSO) functions including, but not limited to: recognition process, contracts & waivers, policies, fundraising approval, and budget oversight
  • Facilitate training for student organization leaders, including ongoing monthly development opportunities throughout the academic year
  • Help implement programming for new student orientation programming, including New Hounds Orientation and Welcome Week
  • Coordinate social media accounts for the Office of Student Affairs
  • Oversee budgets for RSOs, SLAB, and Commuter Services
  • Assess and evaluate planned programs
  • Evening and weekend work is required
  • Work effectively on a team with Student Affair professionals


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in the area of event planning and student programming
  • Demonstrated knowledge of program development and implementation, advising, and group dynamics as necessary to perform the duties designated by this position
  • Demonstrated leadership, organization, and management
  • Ability to oversee a wide variety of activities, work independently or as a team, and manage multiple projects/functions at one time
  • Financial management skills
  • Experience in working with community organizations and creating volunteer opportunities
  • Master’s degree in a related field or active progress towards degree completion
