Position Summary:

PBS Wisconsin Education's Education History Producer develops and produces classroom media for upper elementary and middle school social studies, local history and culture, and English Language Arts studies. This position brings historical inquiry skills to life in multiple formats, including writing, animation, video, and other media. This position works with colleagues across the educational ecosystem to ensure that the content we create is aligned with educational standards in use in Wisconsin, and works with advisors to ensure that the content is accurate and inclusive. This position also supports a program that reaches high school students across the state producing their own local history content. This position reports to the Executive Producer of Education.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's Degree in history, education or related field preferred

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

MINIMUM YEARS AND TYPE OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE
-2 years or more experience producing media and/or creating educational resources
-Strong written communication skills
-Proven ability to translate topics into easily understood material, with an ability to employ engaging, creative approaches

NOT REQUIRED BUT DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
-Experience conducting historical research, working with primary source materials, and obtaining rights for use
-Knowledge of Wisconsin state history
-Familiarity with National or Wisconsin state social studies standards
-Familiarity with or competency in animation production
-Familiarity with or competency in digital video production

Additional Information:

Expected salary range for this position is the $50,000-$59,000 range. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications. PBS Wisconsin offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous vacation, sick leave, healthcare and pension.
