Position Summary:

This is a development to advanced level position providing specialized technical support to the campus veterinary care program. This is a position providing specialized technical support to the campus research veterinary care program. Veterinary technical experience preferred. The position requires the incumbent to independently anticipate, initiate and follow through with technical responsibilities and prioritize workflow needs. Must have the ability to communicate in a professional manner. They must also be able to act responsibly and maturely in stressful situations. Duties include primarily working with rodents to provide veterinary care, assisting in the instruction and orientation of animal care employees, research staff and students, assisting veterinarians in preventive medicine, maintaining supplies, providing technical assistance, including anesthesia support for investigators, clinicians, researchers, and students in procedures. It also requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. independently, with the physical and manual dexterity to perform specialized tasks.

This position functions under general supervision.

This position requires weekend and holiday work.
