Position Summary:

The Wisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Research Center is an NIH-designated research program, with a mission to improve the lives of people affected by Alzheimer's disease (AD). Our work is to facilitate innovative science that targets the prevention and treatment of the disease by working to identify early signs of AD and its causes.

The incumbent for this position will work within the Neuropathology Core of the Wisconsin ADRC, along with our Core leaders and the manager of the Wisconsin Brain Donor Program. The Neuropathology Core is responsible for the management of the brain autopsy program, the management of ante-mortem and postmortem bio-specimens from enrolled participants, and the distribution of samples and data for approved research projects. Working closely with our Core neuropathologists, the incumbent will provide support for all aspects of our brain biorepository, freezer farm, and take part in new initiatives as they develop. Strong applicants will describe within their application materials previous relevant lab experience, attention to detail, leadership, and problem solving. A shared responsibility in brain donation and biorepository freezer call coverage, which is a 24/7 service, is expected.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required. Preferably in a biological or related science.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

- Minimum 3 years paid post-undergraduate work experience in a research lab required.
- Experience with human tissue handling or histology required.

Additional Information:

Exemplary interpersonal, technical and organizational skills required.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial Caregiver Check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every four years.
