Position Summary:

WIDA, an organization within the University of Wisconsin-Madison Wisconsin Center for Education Research, provides trusted tools and resources for educators of multilingual learners in early care and education programs through Grade 12 (wida.wisc.edu). WIDA offers a fully integrated, research-based academic language development system, including language standards, assessments, professional learning, research, and technical assistance. This position will be housed within WIDA's Administration and Operations department in the IT team and will report to the Assistant Director of Digital Learning and Technology. The eLearning Instructional Designer will work in a team of professionals to design and develop online or blended digital learning experiences for pre-K-12 educators serving Multilingual Learners. Qualified applicants should have knowledge of adult learning theory and professional development approaches and experience working with a broad range of instructional technologies such as CANVAS, Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Audacity, Vimeo, and Microsoft Teams. Preferred candidates will also have some experience in instructional design with subject matter experts or instructors.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

B.S. required with coursework/experience in elearning, Instructional Design, or related field.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

General requirements:
* Minimum of 4 years of experience actively working in designing and developing digital experiences.
* Strong time management skills.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
* A value of promoting and fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion.
* A willingness to engage in and deepen knowledge of WIDA's Social Justice value.
* Multilingual or bilingual/bi-literate in Spanish preferred.

Digital content design and development of digital learning objects requirements:
* Knowledge of adult learning theory, professional development and curriculum development.
* Understanding of the digital learning design process, including editing, graphic design, and proficiency with media tools to create accessible digital content.
* Experience or credentials with instructional design or curriculum development.
* Experience in collaborating with subject matter experts in digital learning design.
* Prior experience and/or knowledge of pre-K-12 ESL/multilingual education is preferred.

Technology skills required:
* Intermediate skills with graphical editing software.
* Intermediate skills with audio/video creation tools.
* Intermediate to advanced skills with CANVAS, H5P, and/or Articulate is a must.
* Intermediate skills with web development and design (HTML/HTML5, CSS) is preferred.
