Will work with Catering staff to plan and oversee catered events across campus. Position duties include but are not limited to supervising staff at catered events; ensuring customer satisfaction; ensuring safe food handling procedures; ordering food and supplies for events; processing required paperwork; maintain equipment and inventory levels as needed. Respond to and work with customers on inquiries regarding event specifics. Ensure departmental, county, state, health and University policies are followed at all times.

Qualifications

Associates degree in food service, or business management. And/or a combination of supervisory and catering / restaurant experience equal to 5 years.

Job Specific Qualifications

Well-developed customer service, oral, and written communication skills are necessary in this position. Serve Safe certified. Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

Supervise 4-13 union staff, 3 student managers, 12 student supervisors, and 25-500 casual staff. Hire, train, schedule, discipline, evaluate, and coach all student management, hourly benefited and casual staff. Supervise and train student employees.

Work with the catering team to plan, organize and execute university events ranging from 5 to 8,000 people. Exercise independent judgment to supervise the day-to-day operations in catering and problem solve as needed. Interpret and apply University, Food Services, and County, State, and Union policies. Represent Food Services to the University community and the public.

Respond to inquiries and complaints from students, staff, and faculty. Troubleshoot employee problems; act as liaison between staff and upper management.

Supervise a wide variety of events, handling all aspects in a professional manner, including logistics, menu, staffing & service at events. Responsible for the setup, execution and break down of catered events held on and off campus. Oversee the bars at catered events. Rely on independent judgment to problem solve the day-to-day operations of catered events.

Maintain linen inventory and dish room activity. Write up, gather, and inventory all equipment and linen for catered events.
