The Department of Counselor Education and Rehabilitation in the Kremen School of Education and Human Development at California State University, Fresno is excited to invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Counselor Education with an emphasis in Student Affairs and College Counseling.

Primary responsibilities include teaching core and specialization courses in the Student Affairs and College Counseling (SACC) program, supervision of practicum and internship, advising master-level students, conduct scholarly and applied research, and engaging in service-related activities. This position would also include serving as Practicum and Internship Coordinator for the SACC program and supporting efforts toward obtaining CACREP accreditation. Specific assignments are dependent on the departmental needs and the background of the individual.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  1. Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program. Applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered; however, requirements for the doctorate must be completed by the time of appointment.
  2. College counseling AND student affairs related professional experience.
  3. Teaching experience in higher education.
  4. Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working with faculty, staff, and students from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.


Preferred Education and Experience:

  1. Preference is given to applicants with an earned doctorate from a CACREP accredited program with a specialization in college counseling and/or student affairs.
  2. Two or more years of relevant professional counseling experience in a higher education setting and/or student affairs experience preferred.
  3. Ability to teach core counseling, SACC specialization, and/or other counseling courses as required by the department. Graduate teaching experience preferred.
  4. Ability to supervise students during practicum and internship as well as coordinate practicum and internship opportunities and experiences for students.
  5. Ability to advise and mentor graduate students from diverse backgrounds.
  6. Evidence of recent publications and conference presentations related to college counseling and/or student affairs related in a higher education setting.
  7. Active engagement in relevant student affairs and/or counseling professional organizations.
  8. Experience with or knowledge of CACREP accreditation standards.
