The Staff Photographer brings Syracuse University to life through compelling imagery. Based on the needs of the project, the photographer will use their artistic and technical skills to create images. The staff photographer will produce photographs to support the university’s brand messaging and captures images and portraits at events for use in marketing and communications materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

• Two (2) plus years of experience working in a high performing marketing operation.

• Track-record of producing high-end imagery for use across the marketing and communications spectrum.

• Portfolio showing variety of work including studio, set, architectural and candid imagery.

Job Specific Qualifications

• Ability to work quickly, effectively, thrives with deadlines.

• Excellence in post-production, photo-editing using Adobe Suite.

• Understanding on Canon and Nikon cameras and Profoto lighting system and modifiers.

• Excellence in shot composition along with lighting, both studio and use of natural light.

• Demonstration of understanding of marketing trends and effect on photographic style.

• Understanding of photography rights and permissions.

• Professional photography portfolio submitted with application.

• Understanding of marketing, brand stewardship best practices.

• Track-record of working within brand guidelines.

• Detail oriented individual.

• Excellent communication skills, ability to collaborate with a team and time management skills.

• Willingness to travel to work on-site at events.

• Close visual acuity to perform tasks related to photography.

• Ability to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.

• Frequently moves Audio/Visual equipment across campus to various sites and for events; ability to move, lift, set up and break down photography and videography equipment.

• Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. repeatedly at multiple assignments.

• Flexibility and ability to position oneself to shoot a variety of images.

• Photo/video shoots may require standing, sitting, and kneeling for 4-8 hours.

Responsibilities

• Plays critical role in bringing the Syracuse University brand to life effectively and consistently though compelling imagery.

• Captures images and portraits at events for use in marketing and communications materials.

• Edits images using Adobe Creative Suite.

• Assists Director of Photography and Sr. Photographer with lighting and equipment.

• Retrieves images and works to maintain Digital Asset Management System.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. repeatedly at multiple assignments.
