Provost & Vice-President, Academic
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing institution intent on helping
learners and communities embrace their full potential.
Located on the beautiful Vancouver Island and coastal British Columbia shoreline, Vancouver Island University (VIU) provides its students with unique, hands-on learning experience and many opportunities for undergraduate research. VIU’s nurturing environment and caring and supportive faculty create an environment that balances academic accomplishments with the goal of developing students’ social and relationship skills to last a lifetime.
To continue building on its mission of providing high-quality learning and supporting the well-being of the people of Vancouver Island and coastal British Columbia, VIU seeks a Provost and Vice President, Academic to guide and enhance the academic mission across its four campuses and thirteen Research Centres and Institutes.
Reporting to the President and Vice-Chancellor, the next Provost and Vice-President, Academic will serve as a pillar of the University’s senior leadership and ensure the efforts of all divisions are directed toward achieving the key goals of the University’s academic mission, strategic plan, and related institutional foundation plans. The Provost will continue to foster a culture that embraces innovation, promotes educational equity, and is student-focused.
As the successful candidate, you have an earned Doctorate, a successful record of scholarly and teaching activity, and a track record of progressively responsible senior leadership in Academic Affairs administration at a well-respected post-secondary institution. You are an innovator and are known for your resilience, authenticity, empathy, and commitment to excellence. You will work to foster a vibrant and diverse community of students, faculty, and staff, enhancing relationships with alumni, parents, Indigenous and community leaders, and others closely associated with the university.
