About the Opportunity:

Direct and manage all aspects of IRA Division I Men's Rowing Program. Train and coach student-athletes to maximize their potential during practice and competitions, provide strong student-athlete experience, recruit and retain students who can succeed at NU athletically and academically; supervise and mentor assistant coaches and staff; embrace compliance culture and academic integrity; oversee program budget and fundraise as needed; operate program within University and IRA guidelines; demonstrate commitment to department mission and core values; participate in public relation activities; schedule non-conference events.

Responsibilities:

Academic Commitment: Reinforce academic goals and progress of student-athletes. Recruit student-athletes who are a good fit for Northeastern. Demonstrate accountability for academic progress. Collaborate with departmental staff and faculty liaison on academic matters.

Personal, Professional and Administrative Abilities: Present positive role model for student-athletes. Exhibit ethical behavior and demonstrate self-confidence and spirit. Maintain emotional control under stress. Maintain values, principles and welfare of athletes over winning

Program Management: Demonstrate effective utilization of scholarship funds through recruitment process monitor usage. Communicate effectively with student-athletes, staff and administration. Motivate student-athletes and staff through positive reinforcement. Manage budget responsibly and productively.

Public Relation & Fund Raising Skills: Promote community involvement/service within program. Support and actively participate in fund-raising opportunities.

Theory and Techniques of Coaching: Apply knowledge of sport to teach skills and techniques. Assist student-athletes in reaching their fullest potential. Develop and implement effective training protocols. Demonstrate ability to evaluate and improve performance as needed. Develop positive team culture and morale. Enforce team rules, maintain consistent and appropriate discipline. Community Service | Manages program within budget | Completes and submits forms and expense reports in a timely fashion | Effectively communicates with sport supervisor. | Demonstrates strong leadership skills and serves as a role model to students and staff

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. A minimum of four years of successful coaching experience on the IRA collegiate level is required; head coaching experience preferred. Experience cultivating a successful student-athlete experience preferred.
