About the Opportunity:
The College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor in Northeastern University Global (NU Global) to teach English to Speakers of Other Language (ESOL) courses. NU Global offers innovative academic pathway programs which help international students develop a foundation for academic success. Integrating specialized content-area studies with English language development, the program acclimates students to Northeastern University's academic culture and equips them with the skills they need to thrive in their chosen undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

Responsibilities:
This faculty member will teach courses and contribute to curriculum and program development. Actual course load may vary with responsibilities, which include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Developing course content and materials
  • Overseeing the instruction of specific courses within the curriculum
  • Contributing to recruitment and mentoring of faculty
  • Utilizing technology to support instruction
  • Participating in committee work
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development


Qualifications:
  • Completion of a doctorate degree in applied linguistics, TESOL, or a closely related field
  • Three to four years teaching in a higher education environment
  • Experience working with international students to support their learning goals
  • Evidence of collaboration with colleagues in teaching, scholarship, and/or curriculum development
  • Experience working, studying, and/or living in a foreign-language environment (preferred)
  • Experience learning a second language (preferred)

Candidates specializing in second language assessment, instructional technology, and listening instruction are strongly encouraged to apply.
