The Associate Director of Transfer, Articulation and Prior Learning serves a central and supportive role in the University's strategic approach to increasing and serving Miami’s transfer student populations on the Miami Oxford and Regional campuses, and ensures transfer student success through the cultivation of internal and external partnerships. Through a direct and strong working relationship with and support from the Office of the Provost, the Associate Director will work closely and collaboratively with the Ohio Department of Higher Education/Ohio Articulation and Transfer Advisory Network as an institutional representative for articulation and transfer related statewide compliances and initiatives, including troubleshooting transfer credit issues. The Associate Director will chair a transfer and articulation committee with representatives from all Miami campuses, the University Registrar, Student Success, and Advising that ensures that all transfer student-serving units on each Miami University campus are aligned in their practices to advance strategic goals relating to transfer enrollment and student success. In order to assure compliance on the statewide articulation and transfer policies and strengthen the community college partnerships through pathway development, the Associate Director will work directly with faculty, chairs, and deans.  This position reports directly to the Associate Provost. This position will be housed on the Oxford campus but will serve both the Oxford and Regional Campuses, requiring travel to Oxford, Hamilton and Middletown, OH regularly.

Duties include and are not limited to:

  • Supports strategic priorities relating to transfer student success and enrollment of the Miami Oxford and Regional Campuses.
  • Facilitate and manage the development and finalization of articulation agreements between faculty of both institutions, the University Registrar, Offices of Admission, Academic Advising, and other offices that serve transfer students, ensuring accurate and timely completion in order for the appropriate units to promote the agreements
  • Track all articulation and transfer partnership agreements and ensure that they are updated regularly
  • Develop and maintain a continuously updated and effective transfer partnerships website, including online transfer guides, messaging to transfer students and partners, and degree pathway mapping templates.
  • Provide training, development and regular updates to ensure that internal Miami stakeholders understand and support ODHE transfer initiatives, transfer student policies and promote promising practices.
  • Provide training resources for developing academic partnerships for departments (e.g., workshops, online guides, templates, Canvas site)
  • Provide resources and training to support seamless academic advising before and during the transfer process, transfer credit, best practices, partnerships and academic pathways with community colleges and external organizations. (e.g. workshops, online guides, templates and Canvas site)
  • Oversee and coordinate Prior Learning Assessment initiatives and processes (e.g., portfolio, proficiency examinations, CLEP), including working with faculty and professional staff to develop criteria, tools, and record keeping for prior learning assessment; promoting widespread understanding of prior learning assessment policies and processes; and planning and coordinating activities and communications on prior learning assessment opportunities to prospective and current students, faculty, and staff
  • Collaborate and assist University constituents with outreach efforts at community colleges, four-year institutions, college access organizations, community-based organizations, and corporations to support overall transfer student enrollment and success
  • Serve on the Ohio Articulation & Transfer Advisory Network Committee, attend relevant statewide meetings and workshops, and serve as a back up for the Associate Provost in other transfer and prior learning-related statewide meetings

 

Required: Bachelor’s Degree and five or more years of direct experience in articulation and transfer, especially in the coordination of developing and maintaining articulation agreements, academic advising, admission and outreach, credit evaluation, and a similar function that requires a broad understanding of curriculum, student success and coursework. Experience simultaneously managing multiple projects and bringing them to completion. Candidates must have the ability to travel, strong written and oral communication skills, be detail oriented, self-motivated, and strong organizational skills.

Consideration may be given to candidates with direct experience in and familiarity with working with community colleges or other partnering institutions in higher education. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with faculty, chairs, deans, senior academic administrators, and external constituents related to articulation and transfer of courses and programs. Familiarity with University systems (SIS/Banner, Transferology, Course Information Management System).
