Farmer School of Business:  Academic Advisor with primary responsibilities in advising undergraduate business students.

Duties include and are not limited to: Provides individual academic advising and assists in academic planning and decision making; makes referrals to appropriate resources and offices; initiates outreach programs for academically at-risk students; explores new advising initiatives; represents School to prospective students and families; assists with open houses and other recruitment initiatives; supports students seeking admission to business program and orientation programs for first-year, transfer, and international students; teaches First Year Experience (FYE) course.  Position affords significant opportunity for additional project-based contributions and cross-training development.   Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean and Director of Advising.

Required: Master’s degree, which must be completed by start date.  Minimum six (6) months of full-time advising experience in a university or college setting, including academic, career, study abroad, or other related areas.  Experience gained during a graduate program can apply (graduate experience is pro-rated with one (1) semester being equivalent to two and a quarter (2.25) months of full-time experience). Excellent written and oral communication (including public speaking), organizational, technological, and collaborative skills.

This position is available to persons who are currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time and indefinite basis.  (Persons authorized to work on such a basis include US citizens, lawful permanent residents (“green card” holders), asylees, refugees, and temporary residents under IRCA.)

Consideration may be given to candidates with a master’s degree (preferably in higher education, counseling or college student personnel); experience working with diverse students including first generation, international students, etc. (advising, programming, student organizations, career advising, and/or study abroad advising, etc.)
