Postdoctoral Associate

Summary

The Mysorekar lab has opportunities for newly graduated Ph.D. students who seek advanced postdoctoral training in infection pathogenesis and immune responses; urinary tract infections; bacterial genetics and host response are welcome to apply for this position. These studies involve understanding the impact of uropathogenic e. coli infection on the bladder. Using mouse models, cell culture models, 3D organoid cultures, and human bladder tissues, we take a variety of approaches to understand bacterial pathogenesis in an exciting new program researching the urinary interface. We use transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics approaches to dissect the host responses to infection; role for autophagy, lipophagy, protein trafficking in this process.

Job Duties

• Plans, directs, and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments under the mentorship and guidance of Dr. Indira Mysorekar.
• Evaluates and analyzes data.
• Establishes new research protocols and procedures pertinent to the projects.
• Summarizes research findings and publishes results in research journals.
• Will be responsible for laboratory operations.
• Have the opportunity to supervise junior graduate students or undergraduates in the lab.

Minimum Qualifications

• MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
• No experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• We particularly encourage a background in molecular and cell biology, experience in mouse studies, tissue culture.
• Background in immunology and or bacterial genetics is preferred.
